About PostHog

We're shipping every product that companies need to run their business from their first day, to the day they IPO, and beyond. The operating system for folks who build software.

We started with open-source product analytics, launched out of Y Combinator's W20 cohort. We've since shipped more than a dozen products, including:

  • A built-in data warehouse, so users can query product and customer data together using custom SQL insights.

  • A customer data platform, so they can send their data wherever they need with ease.

  • PostHog AI, an AI-powered analyst that answers product questions, helps users find useful session recordings, and writes custom SQL queries.

Next on the roadmap are CRM, workflow, revenue analytics, and support products. When we say every product that companies need to run their business, we really mean it!

We are:

  1. Product-led. More than 100,000 companies have installed PostHog, mostly driven by word-of-mouth. We have intensely strong product-market fit.

  2. Default alive. Revenue is growing 10% MoM on average, and we're very efficient. We raise money to push ambition and grow faster, not to keep the lights on.

  3. Well-funded. We've raised more than $100m from some of the world's top investors. We're set up for a long, ambitious journey.

We're focused on building an awesome product for end users, hiring exceptional teammates, shipping fast, and being as weird as possible.

Things we care about

  • Transparency: Everyone can read about our roadmap, how we pay (or even let go of) people, our strategy, and how we work, in our public company handbook. Internally, we share revenue, notes and slides from board meetings, and fundraising plans, so everyone has the context they need to make good decisions.

  • Autonomy: We don’t tell anyone what to do. Everyone chooses what to work on next based on what's going to have the biggest impact on our customers, and what they find interesting and motivating to work on. Engineers lead product teams and make product decisions. Teams are flexible and easy to change when needed.

  • Shipping fast: Why not now? We want to build a lot of products; we can't do that shipping at a normal pace. We've built the company around small teams – autonomous, highly-efficient groups of cracked engineers who can outship much larger companies because they own their products end-to-end.

  • Time for building: Nothing gets shipped in a meeting. We're a natively remote company. We default to async communication – PRs > Issues > Slack. Tuesdays and Thursdays are meeting-free days, and we prioritize heads down building time over perfect coordination. This will be the most productive job you've ever had.

  • Ambition: We want to solve big problems. We strongly believe that aiming for the best possible upside, and sometimes missing, is better than never trying. We're optimistic about what's possible and our ability to get there.

  • Being weird: Weird means redesigning an already world-class website for the 5th time. It means shipping literally every product that relates to customer data. It means building an objectively unnecessary developer toy with dubious shareholder value. Doing weird stuff is a competitive advantage. And it's fun.

Who we're looking for

We want to build a YouTube channel that people subscribe to because it's genuinely useful and entertaining, whether they're PostHog users or not.

To do so, we're looking for developers who love teaching. People who are obsessed with what's new, what's interesting, and sharing their knowledge with our audience of product engineers, startup founders, and builders.

You could be a Dev Advocate or DevRel engineer who loves video, or a software developer who makes videos on the side and wants to do it full time. Whatever your background, you need to be opinionated about what makes great content for developers.

This means you need to be technical. You'll either have worked as a software developer, or be the kind of person who likes building apps and websites in their spare time for the fun of it.

Why is this exciting? Three reasons:

1. You're joining a new team at a company that's growing fast. You'll get to define what we do.

2. We care about quality – we're not interested in building a content mill of AI slop.

3. You'll be joining a team of world-class videographers, video editors and writers who you can learn from.

What you'll be doing

Ultimately, you'll decide, but we're interested in tutorials and demos like this one, but way better, and guides about how to get the most out of popular developers tools, like:

We also want to turn existing blogs and newsletters into videos, like 8 learnings from 1 year of agents and Non-obvious pricing advice for startups.

This means you'll be:

  • Scripting, presenting, and editing video content for a developer audience

  • Originating your own content ideas and adapting existing content into video

  • Talking to PostHog product engineers about their work as inspiration for videos

  • Educating developers on the latest trends (e.g. new tools, best practices, using AI)

  • Teaching developers how they can use PostHog to achieve their goals

  • Owning all the creative elements of your videos (e.g. titles, thumbnails, descriptions)

  • Analyzing video and channel performance to understand what works and why

You WILL NOT be:

  • Running, attending or presenting at conferences. This is primarily a video content focused role

  • Working on documentation or sales enablement content. We have other teams doing this

Requirements

  • Strong engineering skills. This means being able to ship full stack apps and familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, and popular frontend frameworks.

  • Good writing and presentation skills. You need to enjoy presenting and be a solid writer who can write their own scripts, and give useful feedback.

  • Be an early adopter. We're looking for people who love tinkering with new tools, models, and frameworks, learning them inside out, and sharing what you learn.

  • Competent with video editing tools. We have editors you can work with and level up your work, but you should be able to ship a video end-to-end when needed.

  • Can shoot at home. We're a remote company, so you need to be able to shoot videos from your home. We'll provide all the equipment to do this if you don't already have it.

  • Active in developer communities. We're looking for active participants in developer communities, be that in Discords, Twitch streams, subreddits, or social media.

We are committed to ensuring a fair and accessible interview process. If you need any accommodations or adjustments, please let us know

Producing awesome videos and growing YouTube into a new channel

Mission for 2026

  1. We own video production 100% end-to-end. This means having limited dependencies on other teams for scripts, animation, thumbnails, or any other elements required to ship video projects. This doesn't mean we don't work with other teams, but we shouldn't be reliant on them.

  2. A successful YouTube channel. Success means a channel with a regular publishing schedule of short and long-form videos that we're proud of, that generate thousands of views organically, and a channel that's growing and generating awareness of the PostHog brand and product.

  3. Every tier 1 launch has supporting video content. This means having one or more video assets for major new product launches, either on the date of general availability or shortly afterwards. It doesn't mean supporting every announcement we do.

Q1 2026 Goals

Work with Marketing Team to support a tier 1 launch with video

  • Owner: Alex
  • Motivation: We want tier 1 launches to always have robust, high-quality video assets. We'll pick one launch in Q1 to do this with, ideally Array.
  • What we'll ship: We think the ideal suite of videos for a launch is a feature video (e.g. Why we built X), a more technical deep dive / demo video, and short trailer-style video that we can use for ads, but these things will be defined in partnership with the marketing team and relevant product team.
  • We'll know we're successful when: A tier 1 launch in Q1 had awesome videos that people love.

Ship season 1 & plan and shoot season 2

  • Owner: Team
  • Motivation: We want the transition between season 1 and 2 to be seamless and ultimately reach a point where this becomes business as usual. We also want to define a bunch of repeatable video series that will become the foundation for the channel.
  • What we'll ship: Complete season 1 and shoot a second season of videos - during which we trial more well-defined series, and at least one big swing project.
  • We'll know we're successful when: We transition seamlessly and we have several video series that we're committed to producing in the medium to long-term.

Nail Changelog season two

  • Owner: Jordo
  • Motivation: Season 1 was great, but a big of a grind and we struggled to publish with the frequency we wanted. Season 2 is about nailing this and making it sustainable long-term.
  • What we'll ship: Reliably ship Changelog every two weeks, shorts for each individual item in the changelog, with more voice contributions from the team.
  • We'll know we're successful when: Production feels mostly effortless and we're confident we have a repeatable model that scales.

New demo video

  • Owner: Andy
  • Motivation: It's horribly out of date and bad. This needs to be fixed urgently.
  • What we'll ship: A new 5 to 7 minute video by the end of Jan that explains what PostHog is and covers some of the main use cases / benefits. This will not be a completely comprehensive video, more of an entry point and high-level overview.
  • We'll know we're successful when: We've shipped an up-to-date video and we can easily update when needed that covers the most valuable use cases and features.

Experiment with shorts

  • Owner: Andy
  • Motivation: I want to be able to produce video independently and shorts are a good place to start. Building out a library of short will also be useful for resurrecting HogTok etc.
  • What we'll ship: Shorts focused on tips and tricks to using PostHog, explaining what PostHog is, intros to features, and product easter eggs easter eggs. We may also try some more weird entertainment oriented ones, but TBD on that.
  • We'll know we're successful when: I can produce high quality shorts with minimal assistance from Alex and Jordo, and we see some traction and utility from publishing them.

Onboarding plan for new animator hire

  • Owner: Alex and Jordo
  • Motivation: We want to hire an animator and we want them to be able to have an instant impact and a clear roadmap of things we need from them.
  • What we'll ship: A detailed onboarding plan, have assets at the ready, have a list of needs and wants for them to work towards, etc.
  • We'll know we're successful when: New hire starts and they say the onboarding process was a dream and they feel like they know exactly how to contribute to the video team.

Setup HogHouse London for regular video shoots

  • Owner: Alex and Andy
  • Motivation: Currently, a video shoot requires a fair bit of forward planning to book out studio space etc. If we can use HogHouse London as a shooting location, we can unlock doing adhoc shoots and reduce the friction here significantly, increasing our ability to ship more videos.
  • What we'll ship: Either a permanent space / area at HogHouse London where we can do shoots and / or a temporary shooting setup we can setup at short notice, secure storage of all necessary equipment, plus spec for lighting we can buy and store on-site.
  • We'll know we're successful when: We can shoot videos at days notice and we're using the space frequently for video shoots.

Improve case study videos

  • Owner: Jordo
  • Motivation: We're not happy with the quality of these videos. We're not committing major resources here, but we'd like to get them to a respectable level until we're ready to commit more time to making them great.
  • What we'll ship: Better resources for staff on how to record good quality videos (screen records) + making being more demanding on feedback to nail narrative and make these videos a bit tighter .
  • We'll know we're successful when: Videos, whether on YouTube or our website, have a consistent quality and polish (4k, good audio quality, coherent speaking, worthwhile-content, etc).
