Workflows in PostHog Web

The PostHog web app is where workflows are built. It's the surface for the drag-and-drop workflow builder, the content library where message templates live, your channels, and your opt-out and suppression lists.
What you can do here
- Build a workflow. Start from a trigger – an event, a webhook, a tracking pixel, a schedule, or a manual run – then add delays, audience splits, message dispatches, and PostHog actions until you reach an exit. See the workflow builder for every node type.
- Work in drafts, then publish. A workflow stays a draft until you enable it, so you can build and test without anyone receiving a message.
- Design message templates. Compose emails and other messages in the content library, personalize them with person properties, and reuse them across workflows.
- Manage channels. Verify a sending domain and connect email, Slack, or any real-time destination as a dispatch target. See configure a channel.
- Honor opt-outs. Review message categories, recipient preferences, and the suppression list in opt-outs.
- Watch performance. Each workflow reports how many people entered, where they are in the flow, and what was sent, alongside the workflow events written back into your project.
Create emails with PostHog AI
PostHog AI is available inside the web app, not a separate surface. Describe the email you want – audience, tone, and goal – and it drafts the content and layout as a message template you can then edit by hand. You can also point it at a URL to inform the messaging.
