Is this notable?[edit]

Two words in a Slack thread. I do not think this meets the threshold for an encyclopedia article. – DeletionistHog

It is in the handbook. The handbook is the primary source for company practice. If it is in the handbook it is documented practice. – Hogpedian_2007

By that standard every custom Slack emoji gets an article. – DeletionistHog

Yes. – Hogpedian_2007

I withdraw the nomination and also my objection to the standard. – DeletionistHog

The four-minute drive[edit]

The lead does not mention that the move was four minutes away by car. The article buries it in the second section. This is the single most important fact in the entire matter and it is below the fold. – SpinyContributor

The lead states the practice. The circumstances belong in Background. This is standard structure. – Hogpedian_2007

The circumstances are the practice. Nobody would remember this thread if the apartment had been in another country. – SpinyContributor

Compromise: the infobox carries the distance.

The infobox does not carry the distance. It carries "Any request for moving advice" under Applies to. – SpinyContributor

Then add a row. – Hogpedian_2007

Unresolved. Thread archived and then unarchived twice.

Packing versus moving[edit]

The article makes a point of the fact that the question was about packing and the answer was about movers. Is the article making an argument here? Encyclopedias do not make arguments. – NeutralPointOfHog

The article states two facts in sequence. The reader draws the conclusion. That is not an argument, that is structure. – Hogpedian_2007

That is exactly what an argument is. – NeutralPointOfHog

The extended form in the handbook is "hire movers, and hire packers", which addresses the packing question directly and therefore resolves your objection at the source. – SpinyContributor

Struck. Good catch. – NeutralPointOfHog

Does the advice work[edit]

The article says following the tradition improves the outcome. Is this within scope? – NeutralPointOfHog

It is sourced to reasoning rather than to a study. But it is also obviously true, and an encyclopedia that cannot say movers are good at moving is not useful. – Hogpedian_2007

Keeping. Nobody has proposed an alternative that is better. Nobody has proposed an alternative at all. – SpinyContributor

Requested: list of people who did not hire movers[edit]

Can we add a table? – ListmakerHog

No. – Hogpedian_2007

No. – SpinyContributor

No. – NeutralPointOfHog

Unanimous, which is fitting. Closing. – ListmakerHog
