For an EU Cloud project, use `https://eu.posthog.com` instead of `https://us.posthog.com` or `https://app.posthog.com` (app host for links). ## On this page - [Prerequisites](#prerequisites) - [Adding a data source](#adding-a-data-source) - [Sync modes](#sync-modes) - [Configuration](#configuration) - [Supported tables](#supported-tables) - [Troubleshooting](#troubleshooting) **Beta release** This source is currently in **beta**. It works end to end, but you may still hit rough edges. In PostHog, go to the [Sources tab](https://app.posthog.com/data-management/sources) of the data pipeline section. 2. Click **\+ New source** and click **Link** next to this source. 3. Enter your credentials (see [Configuration](#configuration) below) and click **Next**. 4. Select the tables you want to sync, choose a sync method and frequency, then click **Import**. Once the syncs are complete, you can start querying this data in PostHog. When linking BlueTally, you'll need: - **API key** – create one in BlueTally under **Settings → API Keys**, then paste it here. - **Tenant ID** – optional. If your account has multi-tenancy enabled, enter the tenant ID the key should act on. ## Sync modes Each table can be synced in one of several modes, depending on what the source supports: - **Webhook** (when available) – the source pushes changes to PostHog in real time. Fastest freshness, lowest ongoing cost, and the only mode that reliably captures updates and deletes. - **Incremental** – only new or updated rows are synced on each run, using a cursor field (such as an `updated_at` timestamp). Cheaper than a full refresh, but deletes aren't captured. - **Append only** – new rows are appended using a cursor field; existing rows are never updated. Ideal for immutable, append-only tables like event logs. - **Full refresh** – the whole table is reloaded on every sync. Use it when a table has no reliable cursor or when you need deletions reflected. See [sync methods](https://posthog.com/docs/data-pipelines/sources.md#sync-methods) for a full explanation of how each mode works and how to choose between them. BlueTally exposes no server-side timestamp filter, so this source is full refresh only. ## Configuration | Option | Type | Required | | --- | --- | --- | | `API key` | password | Yes | | `Tenant ID (optional)` | text | No | ## Supported tables | Table | Description | Sync method | Incremental field | Primary key | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | `assets` | Individual tracked IT assets (hardware) in BlueTally, including their lifecycle dates, assignment, and related catalog references. | Full refresh | — | id | | `accessories` | Accessories (peripherals and other non-serialized hardware) tracked by quantity in BlueTally. | Full refresh | — | id | | `components` | Components tracked in BlueTally that can be checked out to assets (e.g. RAM, drives). | Full refresh | — | id | | `consumables` | Consumable items tracked by quantity in BlueTally (e.g. cables, ink) that deplete as they are checked out. | Full refresh | — | id | | `licenses` | Software licenses tracked in BlueTally, including seat counts and assignment. | Full refresh | — | id | | `employees` | People in BlueTally that assets, accessories, consumables, and licenses can be checked out to. | Full refresh | — | id | | `products` | Product models in BlueTally's catalog that assets are instances of. | Full refresh | — | id | | `categories` | Categories used to group BlueTally assets, accessories, and other items. | Full refresh | — | id | | `manufacturers` | Manufacturers referenced by BlueTally assets, products, and licenses. | Full refresh | — | id | | `suppliers` | Suppliers that BlueTally assets and other items were purchased from. | Full refresh | — | id | | `locations` | Physical locations where BlueTally assets and employees are based. | Full refresh | — | id | | `departments` | Organizational departments used to group BlueTally assets and employees. | Full refresh | — | id | | `statuses` | Status labels (e.g. Deployable, Archived) that BlueTally assets can be assigned. | Full refresh | — | id | | `depreciations` | Depreciation schedules applied to BlueTally assets, licenses, and products. | Full refresh | — | id | | `maintenances` | Maintenance records logged against BlueTally assets. | Full refresh | — | id | | `audits` | Asset audit records in BlueTally, tracking scheduled and completed audits. | Full refresh | — | id | | `activity` | Activity log entries in BlueTally: the create, update, delete, check-in, check-out, schedule, complete and recover events recorded against assets, accessories, components, consumables, licenses, maintenances and audits. | Full refresh | — | timestamp, type, event, item\_id, user\_id | | `tenants` | Tenants the API key can act on. Only populated for BlueTally accounts with multi-tenancy enabled; the tenant ID scopes every other table. | Full refresh | — | tenant\_id | ## Troubleshooting - If you see an authentication error, your API key may be invalid or expired. Create a new key under **Settings → API Keys** in BlueTally, then reconnect. - If you see a permission error, check that the key has permission to read the data you want to sync. If your sync is failing or data looks wrong, see the [Data warehouse troubleshooting guide](https://posthog.com/docs/data-warehouse/troubleshooting.md). If that doesn't help, [contact support](https://us.posthog.com/#panel=support%3Asupport%3Adata_warehouse%3A%3Atrue) – we're happy to help.
