The interface and available tables may change. The Trino connector runs read-only SQL against the catalogs your Trino user can reach, so you can bring data from the systems behind Trino into PostHog. ## Prerequisites A Trino cluster PostHog can reach over the network, and a user with read access to the catalog and schemas you want to sync. ## Adding a data source 1. In PostHog, go to the [Sources tab](https://app.posthog.com/data-management/sources) of the data pipeline section. 2. Click **\+ New source** and click **Link** next to this source. 3. Enter your credentials (see [Configuration](#configuration) below) and click **Next**. 4. Select the tables you want to sync, choose a sync method and frequency, then click **Import**. Once the syncs are complete, you can start querying this data in PostHog. - **Host** and **Port**: your Trino coordinator, for example `trino.example.com` on port `443`. - **Catalog**: the catalog to read from, for example `hive`. - **Schema**: optional. Leave blank to include every schema in the catalog. - **Authentication type**: choose password, JWT token, or no authentication, to match how your cluster authenticates. - **Use HTTPS?** and **Verify TLS certificate?**: keep both on unless your cluster serves plain HTTP or uses a self-signed certificate. ## Sync modes Each table can be synced in one of several modes, depending on what the source supports: - **Webhook** (when available) – the source pushes changes to PostHog in real time. Fastest freshness, lowest ongoing cost, and the only mode that reliably captures updates and deletes. - **Incremental** – only new or updated rows are synced on each run, using a cursor field (such as an `updated_at` timestamp). Cheaper than a full refresh, but deletes aren't captured. - **Append only** – new rows are appended using a cursor field; existing rows are never updated. Ideal for immutable, append-only tables like event logs. - **Full refresh** – the whole table is reloaded on every sync. Use it when a table has no reliable cursor or when you need deletions reflected. See [sync methods](/docs/cdp/sources.md#sync-methods) for a full explanation of how each mode works and how to choose between them. ## Configuration | Option | Type | Required | | --- | --- | --- | | `Host` | text | Yes | | `Port` | number | Yes | | `Catalog` | text | Yes | | `Schema (optional)` | text | No | | `Authentication type` | select | Yes | | `Use HTTPS?` | select | Yes | | `Verify TLS certificate?` | select | Yes | ## Supported tables The tables available from this source are discovered from your account when you connect it, so the exact list depends on your data. Once connected, you can pick which tables to sync from the [sources tab](https://app.posthog.com/data-management/sources). ## Troubleshooting - If the connection fails with an authorization error, check the authentication type matches your cluster, and that the user and password or JWT are current. - If PostHog cannot reach the coordinator, check that your network allows connections from the PostHog IP addresses below. #### Inbound IP addresses We use a set of IP addresses to access your instance. To ensure this connector works, add these IPs to your inbound security rules: | US | EU | | --- | --- | | 44.205.89.55 | 3.75.65.221 | | 52.4.194.122 | 18.197.246.42 | | 44.208.188.173 | 3.120.223.253 | If your sync is failing or data looks wrong, see the [Data warehouse troubleshooting guide](/docs/data-warehouse/troubleshooting.md). If that doesn't help, [contact support](https://us.posthog.com/#panel=support%3Asupport%3Adata_warehouse%3A%3Atrue) – we're happy to help. ### Still have questions?
