**Alpha release**

This source is currently in **alpha**. The interface and available tables may change.

The Aha! Ideas connector syncs your ideas portal data — ideas, votes, comments, submitters, organizations, themes, and portals — from [Aha!](https://www.aha.io/) into PostHog's data warehouse. Once synced, you can query and join this data alongside your product analytics, revenue data, and other warehouse sources.

## Prerequisites

You need an Aha! account with permission to create API keys. The key inherits your account permissions, so it can only sync data you can see.

## Adding a data source

1. In PostHog, go to the [Sources tab](https://app.posthog.com/data-management/sources) of the data pipeline section.
2. Click **\+ New source** and click **Link** next to this source.
3. Enter your credentials (see [Configuration](#configuration) below) and click **Next**.
4. Select the tables you want to sync, choose a sync method and frequency, then click **Import**.

Once the syncs are complete, you can start querying this data in PostHog.

When linking Aha! Ideas, you'll need:

- **Account domain** – your Aha! subdomain, for example `yourcompany` (from `yourcompany.aha.io`). You can enter either the full URL or the subdomain alone.
- **API key** – create one in your Aha! account under **Settings → Personal → Developer → API keys**.

## Sync modes

Each table can be synced in one of several modes, depending on what the source supports:

- **Webhook** (when available) – the source pushes changes to PostHog in real time. Fastest freshness, lowest ongoing cost, and the only mode that reliably captures updates and deletes.
- **Incremental** – only new or updated rows are synced on each run, using a cursor field (such as an `updated_at` timestamp). Cheaper than a full refresh, but deletes aren't captured.
- **Append only** – new rows are appended using a cursor field; existing rows are never updated. Ideal for immutable, append-only tables like event logs.
- **Full refresh** – the whole table is reloaded on every sync. Use it when a table has no reliable cursor or when you need deletions reflected.

See [sync methods](/docs/cdp/sources.md#sync-methods) for a full explanation of how each mode works and how to choose between them.

## Configuration

| Option | Type | Required |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Account domain | text | Yes |
| API key | password | Yes |

## Supported tables

| Table | Description | Sync method | Incremental field | Primary key |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| ideas | An idea submitted to your Aha! Ideas portal — feedback that can be promoted into features. | Incremental, Full refresh | updated_at | — |
| idea_portals | An Aha! Ideas portal — a public or private site where users submit and vote on ideas. | Full refresh | — | — |
| idea_organizations | A submitting organization associated with idea votes — typically a customer account. | Incremental, Full refresh | updated_at | — |
| idea_users | An external user who has submitted ideas or votes to your Aha! Ideas portals. | Incremental, Full refresh | updated_at | — |
| idea_themes | A theme grouping related ideas together by topic. | Full refresh | — | — |
| idea_endorsements | A vote (endorsement) cast for an idea, optionally by a portal user and/or organization. | Incremental, Full refresh | updated_at | — |
| idea_comments | A comment left on an idea, by either an internal Aha! user or an ideas portal user. | Full refresh | — | — |

## Troubleshooting

- If you see an authentication error, your API key may be invalid or revoked. Create a new key under **Settings → Personal → Developer → API keys** in your Aha! account, then reconnect.
- If you see a permission error, check that the Aha! account tied to the API key has access to the data you're trying to sync, then reconnect. The key can only access data your own account can see.

If your sync is failing or data looks wrong, see the [Data warehouse troubleshooting guide](/docs/data-warehouse/troubleshooting.md). If that doesn't help, [contact support](https://us.posthog.com/#panel=support%3Asupport%3Adata_warehouse%3A%3Atrue) – we're happy to help.
