> AI agents: this is one page from PostHog's docs. Full index of Markdown docs for LLMs: https://posthog.com/llms.txt # Business knowledge Canonical URL: https://posthog.com/docs/business-knowledge/start ## On this page - [Text](#text) - [URL](#url) - [File](#file) - [Auto-refresh](#auto-refresh) - [Libraries](#libraries) - [Playground](#playground) - [Content checks](#content-checks) - [Learn from support](#learn-from-support) Business knowledge stores the facts PostHog uses when it answers questions about your business. PostHog AI, Support, and the Business knowledge MCP tools all read the same sources. Open **Business knowledge** and choose **Add source**. ## Text Paste a policy, an FAQ, or any other text, and give the source a name. Edit the source when the text changes. ## URL Paste a public URL and choose how PostHog should read it. - **Single page** fetches that page. - **Sitemap.xml** reads the sitemap at that URL, or `/sitemap.xml` on the same site, and indexes each listed page. - **Same-origin crawl** indexes that page and other pages on the same site, staying under the page's path. A URL at the site root covers the whole site. Skip paths you do not want. Depth and max pages bound the crawl. The crawl follows `robots.txt`. ## File Upload a PDF, DOCX, Markdown, CSV, or plain text file. PostHog stores the text it reads from the file. It does not keep the original file. To change a file, delete the source and upload it again. ## Auto-refresh A URL source can refresh on a schedule: every hour, every 6 hours, every day, or every week. **Manual only** means PostHog fetches the source when you add it, and again when you refresh that row yourself. Text and file sources do not refresh on a schedule. ## Libraries A library limits search to the sources and repositories you put in it. A source can be in more than one library, or in none. **All** searches every ready source. **Unfiled** shows sources that are in no library. Deleting a library removes only that grouping. The sources, documents, and selected repositories stay. Pass `library_id` to document search, repository search, and file read when you want one library. Leave it out to search the whole project. ## Playground The **Playground** tab asks a question against your sources and shows the answer. Use it to check that a source is found before you rely on it in Support or PostHog AI. ## Content checks PostHog checks each document before using it in an answer. A document marked unsafe is left out. A document is also left out until that check finishes. The source shows when it has unsafe content. ## Learn from support You can also let PostHog add reusable answers from resolved support tickets.
