This destination triggers SMS messages in Twilio when specified events or actions are detected in PostHog.

You can set a timeout period of between 1 second and 31536000 seconds (1 calendar year) to avoid accidentally spamming users with too many messages.

Requirements

Using this requires either PostHog Cloud with the data pipeline add-on, or a self-hosted PostHog instance running version 1.30.0 or later.

Installation

  1. In PostHog, click the "Data pipeline" tab in the left sidebar.
  2. Search for 'Twilio' and select the destination, press 'Install'.
  3. Follow the steps below to configure the destination.

Configuration

To configure this destination, you will need your Account SID and Auth Token from Twilio. You can find these in Twilio in your account menu under Account > Keys & Credentials > API Keys and tokens > Live credentials.

Additionally, you will need to know your Twilio Phone Number. Follow Twilio's documentation for buying or finding your Twilio phone numbers.
